Ingredients

Rice – 1 cup
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Oil – 4 tsp
Cloves – 4
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Green Cardamom - 2
Bay leaf – 1
Water – 2 cups
Salt


Method

Take a pressure cooker. Heat ghee and oil. Add cloves, cinnamon, green cardamom and bay leaf. Saute it for a min till it releases the aroma. Add washed rice. Saute it for half a min. Add 2 cups water and salt. Salt should be a bit lesser than usual if you are eating it with some gravy. Cover the pan and pressure cook it up to 3 whistles. Serve hot.


My Notes

ü  You can add chopped onion, cashews and raisins too for a richer taste and saute it before adding rice.

ü  I used regular rice here. you can use basmati too in which case you will have to use only one and half cup water.

ü  The amount of oil, salt, and spice can be varied according to your taste and eating habits. This measurement works well for me and my family.
