This  Mutton curry is one of Manzi's fav dishes. I make it quite often with steamed rice. It tastes better if you make it a bit spicier.

Ingredients

Mutton – 3/4 Kg Chops piece or regular cut
Onion – 2 large.
Whole garam masala (cloves -4, cinnamon-1 inch, green cardamom – 2, bay leaf -2, you can add any other garam masala if you wish to along with these)
Mint Leaves – ¼ small bunch
Coriander Leaves – 1 medium bunch
Green Chillies – 5-6
Pepper corns – 5-6
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala powder – ¾ tsp
Coconut milk – of 1 and half large coconut (approx 5-6 cups).
Lemon - 1
Salt
Oil - 4 tbsp
Water as needed

Method

Take a frying pan and heat 1 tbsp of oil. Add one chopped onion, mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies and pepper corns and saute it well till the raw smell goes. Cool it and grind into a very fine paste.

Now heat the remaining oil in a pressure cooker. Add whole garam masala. Once they crackle add the remaining chopped onion and fry it till golden brown. Now add Mutton and saute till the water from the meat reduces. Add ginger garlic paste and keep frying it for another 5 mins. Add the green paste and saute it till the oil separates. Mix in all the powders and fry for 2 mins. Add coconut milk. Let it come to a boil. Squeeze in the lemon juice. Add salt and check the seasoning. Close the cooker and let it cook up to 8-10 whistles. Serve hot with steamed rice or idlis.

My Notes

ü  Green chillies can be added or reduced according to the spiciness.

ü  The amount of oil, salt, and spice can be varied according to your taste and eating habits. This measurement works well for me and my family.
