This lemon rasam is tangy, tasty and super easy to make. You can enjoy this hot rasam even by having it like a soup instead of mixing it with rice.
Ingredients
Tuvar dal – ¼ cup – cooked
Oil – 2 tsp
Asafoetida/ Hing – a pinch
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Dry red chillies – 4 – broken into half
Curry leaves - handful
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Salt
Water as needed (I added approx 4 cups)
Lemon juice – of one big size lemon
Coriander leaves for garnishing.
Method
Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add hing and cumin seeds and let it splutter. Add red chillies and sauté it for a few secs. Add curry leaves and turmeric powder and saute it. Add cooked dal and give it a mix. Add water and salt and check for seasoning. Add lemon juice. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
My Notes
ü Adjust the amount of water according to your taste. Do not dilute it too much or the flavor of the spices will reduce.
ü Add more lemon juice if you like it to be more tangy.
